Preparing for your consultation

Consultations with Professor Tom Hugh are held at the Tom Reeve Academic Surgical Clinic in St Leonards. A valid GP or specialist referral is required for most appointments. The rooms usually already have your imaging and pathology. Please bring the original referral if you can, especially if only a poor email copy was sent.

/ 01Before you attend

What should you bring to your visit?

Please bring your original referral when possible, plus Medicare (and DVA if relevant) and private health insurance details if you have cover. Imaging and pathology are usually already with the rooms before your appointment. If anything is missing, knowing the name of the imaging place where imaging was done is enough.
  • Original referral letter from your GP or specialist (preferred over a poor email copy)
  • Medicare card details, and DVA card details if applicable
  • Private health insurance card details if you have cover

Rooms phone: 02 9438 2277. Email: info@hughmedical.com. Full map and form: contact page.

/ 03Common questions

Most medical specialists accept only referred patients. A referral helps confirm that specialist care is appropriate for your condition. Medicare also pays higher rebates for specialist services when you have a valid referral.

Call the rooms on 02 9438 2277 during business hours, or use the contact form. If you need to cancel, please call with as much notice as possible.

Telehealth may be offered for some follow-ups or second opinions when clinically appropriate. The rooms will advise what suits your situation.
